Made wearable for a hands-free dressing experience

Cair Collective

Cair Collective was a thesis project by Claudia Poh (Werable’s founder) and Amy Yu Chen in 2017. Cair Collective provides a tech-assisted dressing experience that goes beyond a single user. Clothing items were designed to rise onto the body with built-in inflatable components hidden in the garments. The pair co-designed with Christina Mallon throughout the entire process, adapting to her needs as she lives independently without the use of her arms.

While they’ve introduced a future-forward system of inflatable pants, they've also designed hacks into fitted sweaters, tops and elastic pants to create a full dressing system.

“It’s definitely less taxing on my body, which is important, given that I use up a lot of my energy putting my clothes on”

We make clothes go against gravity and onto the body

Cair Collective considers a paradigm where air is used to create a more automatic means of dress. In fashion, this might seem bizarre, but other fields are looking at self-driving cars and artificial intelligence. Cair Collective seeks a tech-assisted dressing experience for everyone.
